Elly McGeary Fossum, M.S., M.F.T - Licensed Marriage Family Therapist
About Elly McGeary Fossum

I am a licensed Marriage Family Therapist whose primary focus in my practice is working with couples.  I also do therapy with families and individuals, children and the elderly.  I use both short and long-term therapy with clients who have issues with either anxiety and/or depression, trauma, grief or loss.  Much of my work is with families who have problems with adjustment to overwhelming changes in their lives which is due to either divorce or separation or children leaving home, retirement, or families dealing with mental illness or serious medical problems.  I have worked with a very diverse population the last 14 years.  I use several modalities including CBT (Cognitive Behavioral Therapy) and EFT (Emotion Focused Therapy) to help my clients deal with the issues they present with.  With younger children, I work using art therapy, sand tray, as well as, drama to help them work through the problems they have to deal with.  I have also been trained in the use of EMDR which is a very useful tool in helping clients with trauma and loss.

Recently I have started working as Child Specialist and Divorce Coach in the Collaborative Divorce Process helping couples put a co-parenting plan together.  I do mediation as a Private Confidential Mediator, as well as, work as a mediator in the Family Court System on a Pro Bono basis.  I am also trained to work with couples using the Shared Parenting Support Program and the Collaborative Co-Parenting Program helping and teach couples how to work together as co-parents after a divorce.
