Issues in divorce are complex and confusing. Parents focus on who will get ownership of the family home, car, or bank account. When this happens parent also can focus on ownership of their children rather than looking to see what's best for each child. Each parent will see less of their child which is something that parents generally have great difficulty adjusting to. When this happens parents often focus on a "fight for custody", as if their children were objects to be divided up.

Decisions need to be made about when a child will go to the other parents home, days and time. Other decisions include which school the child will go to. There are numerous decisions couples need to make regarding their children's welfare. The child's development level needs to be taken into consideration, as well as, the feelings and thoughts of the child. Co-parenting classes can be very helpful in finding a way to work effectively with your child's other parent in makeing decisions about your child.
